The fight between Xiaomi and Realme is warming up every passing day. Xiaomi and Realme just launched the Redmi Note 7 Pro and the Realme 3 Pro, respectively, in India. Now the two phone brands are gearing up to launch their own flagships and the interesting bit is the name of the two upcoming Redmi and Realme phones are also very similar. Redmi is all set to launch the Redmi X while Realme CMO has confirmed that the Realme X is coming soon. Until now we heard that both the phones are coming, but now the Redmi X gets a launch date.
The Redmi X is all set to launch on May 14, a leaked posted on Weibo suggests. It must be noted that the Redmi X will currently launch in China and later come to other markets. The question now is, will Redmi X come to India? Well, as of now there are no reports on the India launch of the Redmi X. But rumours suggest that the Redmi X will be rebranded to Poco F2 for the Indian market. This is highly likely because Xiaomi claims that the Redmi X will be the cheapest Snapdragon 855 chipset phone launched so far. Poco follows the same strategy.
Last year, Poco F1 was launched as the cheapest Snapdragon 845 chipset phone. The rumoured Poco F2 may follow the same strategy. It is safe to assume that the Poco F2 will be the cheapest Snapdragon 855 phone in India. Take this information with a pinch of salt because the company is yet to confirm the Poco F2.
The Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing has confirmed several details about the Redmi X flagship phone. The Redmi X is going to be the cheapest Snapdragon 855 phone launched so far. Rumours suggest that the Redmi X will come with pop-up selfie camera on the back panel, while on the back panel the phone is expected to bring triple cameras.
The presence of the pop-up selfie camera means there will be no notch on the phone. Meanwhile, a recently leaked poster of the Redmi X show there will be no rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. This hints at in-display fingerprint sensor. Some reports suggest that the Redmi X will retain the 3.5mm headphone jack and may come with wireless charging support. All the official specs and features of the Redmi X will be announced at the official launch event of the phone on May 14.
With the Redmi X Xiaomi clearly wants to take on the likes of Realme X that is also expected to launch in China this month alongside a rebranded version of the Realme 3 Pro. In China, the Realme 3 Pro will launch as Realme X Lite, at least that is what the rumours suggest. So, will Redmi X be able to compete with the Realme X? Well, that we can say after the phones go official, but right now the Redmi X looks pretty powerful.
